Luis Cornejo, LMFT

Biography

Luis is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist and the founder of PsychoSocial, a multimedia platform focused on mental health education and de-stigmatizing mental illness. Luis graduated from Long Beach State University with a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology (2015). He also has a bachelors’ degree in Child and Adolescent Development with an emphasis in Public Policy from San Francisco State University (2011). Luis has over 9 years of experience working with children and families both in education and mental health. Luis also has experience working with the Latinx and LGBTQ+ communities providing therapy in both English and Spanish. Previously, Luis worked at Instituto Familiar de la Raza (IFR) in San Francisco, CA providing mental health consultation in early head start programs and SFUSD pre-schools. During his time at at IFR, Luis also worked in La Clinica providing therapy to the immigrant community. Currently, Luis works at Kaiser in San Francisco where he continues to provide mental health services to a variety of populations, but mainly focused on Spanish speaking immigrant Latinx and LGBTQ+ clients. Luis is also working on his sex therapy certification through CIIS which he hopes will increase his ability to include discussions around sex/sexuality with his clients.

His therapeutic interests include working with Trauma, the LGBTQ community, Children, Families, Couples, and POC. His personal interests include; Films, Reading, Writing, Art, Travelling, Disney, and Food. He is also a recipient of the California State Stipend award (2015). PsychoSocial is part of Luis’ dedication to mental health and an example of his passion to educate others. Luis hopes that through PsychoSocial he will be able to help in the fight to end the stigma around mental illness. ​​
